Key Questions

Can you describe a project where you authored or contributed to a design substantiation for a high-hazard system or facility? How did you ensure the technical justification met safety case and regulatory requirements?

What is your experience with Periodic Review of Safety (PRS)? How have you contributed to ensuring continued justification for safe operation of electrical systems over time?

How do you approach integrating safety considerations into electrical design work, especially when reviewing changes, concessions, or developing safety justifications in support of the overall design intent?

The Opportunity

The Design Authority plays a critical role in ensuring the design integrity and safety justification of critical infrastructure supporting nuclear operations. The team is responsible for overseeing design compliance, operational safety, and technical substantiation to ensure all infrastructure and systems meet legislative, regulatory, and best practice standards.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Developing and maintaining nuclear infrastructure safety justifications and designs in line with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ensuring continued suitability of operating conditions and safety systems throughout their lifecycle.
  • Managing and authoring design changes, EIMT (Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing) schedules, and performance reviews.
  • Supporting change-of-use assessments, safety case updates, and periodic safety reviews.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to maintain design integrity and alignment with safety and operational requirements.
