Electrical Engineer

Summary: The role of Electrical Engineer focuses on providing technical support within the nuclear defence sector, specifically in electrical design engineering. Candidates are expected to have experience in high voltage systems and must hold or be able to obtain SC clearance. The position is fully remote with monthly site visits required to the Clyde, Faslane site. The role emphasizes ensuring technical excellence and safety in design packages for infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring technical excellence in the specification, production, and assessment of design packages for infrastructure.
• Specifying reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure.
• Assessing work control procedures for the maintenance of infrastructure.
• Assessing infrastructure design, material state, qualification, and ageing mechanisms.
• Promoting a robust safety and security culture.
• Ensuring safety-related contract outputs meet requirements and adhere to safety standards.

Key Skills:

• Broad experience in electrical engineering, including HV/MV distribution and protection systems.
• Experience in the nuclear industry or high-hazard industries preferred.
• Ability to provide practical and cost-effective design solutions.
• Good understanding of British and international design standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively.
• HNC or equivalent qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Detailed knowledge of the Design Intent for Electrical Infrastructure in the nuclear industry.
