Summary: The Electrical Design / EDS Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing vehicle Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) using SolidWorks Electrical. This role involves producing wiring diagrams, collaborating with mechanical teams, and ensuring compliance with automotive standards. The engineer will also support prototype development and assist with design validation in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop vehicle EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems) using SolidWorks Electrical
- Produce 2D and 3D wiring diagrams, harness routings, schematics, and connector schedules
- Collaborate with mechanical and systems teams to integrate electrical design into the full vehicle platform
- Interpret system requirements and vehicle architecture to deliver accurate electrical documentation
- Support prototype development and assist with design validation
- Ensure all designs adhere to automotive standards and safety compliance
Key Skills:
- 5 or more years of experience with SolidWorks Electrical (2D and 3D environments)
- Proven track record working on automotive EDS systems
- Experience with vehicle-level electrical architecture in automotive start-up or niche volume environments
- Strong understanding of wire harnessing, connector selection, and electrical packaging within a vehicle
- Excellent communication and self-management skills in a remote setting
- Exposure to low-voltage and high-voltage EV systems
- Experience working in early-stage start-up environments or fast-paced automotive projects
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 or other automotive electrical standards
