Summary: As an E-Commerce Search Specialist, you will design, implement, and optimize the search experience for an online store, focusing on leveraging Elasticsearch and semantic search capabilities. You will collaborate with development and product teams to enhance product discoverability and provide strategic guidance on search infrastructure. Your role will involve analyzing search data and improving the search experience to boost customer satisfaction and conversion rates. This position requires a strong background in Elasticsearch and consulting architecture within an e-commerce context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain our Elasticsearch cluster, ensuring high availability and optimal performance
- Develop custom Elasticsearch queries, relevance tuning, and semantic search models to deliver accurate and personalized search results
- Analyze search logs and user behavior data to identify opportunities to enhance the search experience
- Work with front-end developers to integrate Elasticsearch and semantic search with the user interface, enabling features like autocomplete, spelling correction, and faceted navigation
- Monitor search quality metrics and implement improvements to boost conversion rates and customer satisfaction
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Elasticsearch and semantic search features and best practices, and recommend upgrades or architectural changes as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, merchandising, and product teams to understand business requirements and inform search strategy
- Provide architectural guidance on search infrastructure, including scalability, failover, and integration with other systems
- Document search-related processes, recommendations, and knowledge transfer to support the team
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of experience working with Elasticsearch and semantic search in an ecommerce or enterprise search environment
- 3+ years of experience as a consulting architect, advising on search infrastructure and architecture
- Strong understanding of information retrieval concepts, search ranking algorithms, and search engine optimization
- Expertise in developing custom Elasticsearch queries, relevance tuning strategies, and semantic search models
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools to derive insights from search metrics
- Experience integrating Elasticsearch and semantic search with web applications and front-end frameworks

As the Ecommerce Search Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the search experience for our online store. You will work closely with the development and product teams to ensure our customers can easily find the products they are looking for. Key areas of focus include leveraging Elasticsearch and semantic search capabilities to provide relevant, fast, and robust search functionality, analyzing search data to continually improve the search experience, and collaborating on front-end search UI enhancements.
With your experience as a consulting architect, you will also provide strategic guidance on search infrastructure and architecture to support the evolving needs of our ecommerce platform.
