Summary: The DNS Security Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting a Proof of Concept (POC) for DNSSEC and DNS-over-TLS within a virtual lab environment. The role involves gathering test cases, defining metrics, conducting structured testing, analyzing data, and presenting findings to stakeholders. This position is remote and has a duration of 9 months. The contractor will work closely with Architects to inform decisions regarding DNSSEC and DoT adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and document a DNSSEC and DNS-over-TLS (DoT) Proof of Concept (POC) within a virtual lab environment.
- Gather and define test cases and use cases for DNSSEC and DoT implementation.
- Establish measurable criteria and benchmarks for evaluating DNSSEC and DoT behavior during testing.
- Conduct structured testing in the Vlab environment, documenting functionality, risks, dependencies, and edge cases.
- Prepare detailed metrics, comparisons, and conclusions in a presentation-ready format.
- Present POC findings to relevant Architects to facilitate discussion and decision-making.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of DNS fundamentals, DNSSEC, DNS-over-TLS (DoT), and TSIG authentication.
- Experience with Ansible for DNS server deployment and configuration management.
- Knowledge of Cisco Umbrella integration for external DNS resolution.
