Summary: The role of Digital Platform SME requires a Subject Matter Expert with extensive knowledge in sports betting and online casino operations. This position focuses on aligning technology decisions with real-world gambling practices, ensuring that product strategies and platform architectures are effectively grounded in operational realities. The SME will serve as a bridge between business, product, and technology teams, providing strategic insights into platform evolution and operational models. This is a fully remote position classified as inside IR35, requiring UK residency and engagement through an umbrella company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a bridge between business/product and technology teams
  • Validate that target architectures support end-to-end betting and gambling workflows
  • Advise on sportsbook and casino product capabilities, benchmarking against market standards
  • Ensure initiatives and roadmaps are aligned to real use cases, not just theoretical designs
  • Provide strategic input into platform evolution, including sportsbook functionality, casino aggregation models, and risk and trading operations
  • Support senior stakeholders across product, technology, and operations
  • Operate within a modern digital platform environment, including cloud-native, containerised microservices architectures, event-driven systems, API-led and BFF-based architectures, and high-throughput, low-latency transaction systems

Key Skills:

  • Deep experience in sports betting and/or online casino platforms
  • Strong understanding of sportsbook concepts: markets, odds, bet lifecycle, cashout, settlement
  • Exposure to casino platforms and aggregation models
  • Experience with operators, platform providers, or gambling technology vendors
  • Experience working with modular gambling platforms where services are decoupled
  • Familiarity with event-driven or service-oriented architectures
  • Understanding of operating models involving product teams, trading & risk teams, and engineering teams working in parallel

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep domain expertise in sports betting and/or online casino, who can bridge business, product, and technology. This person will play a critical role in ensuring that proposed platform architectures, product strategies, and operating models are grounded in real-world gambling operations and market practices. This engagement sits at the intersection of product, platform architecture, and gambling operations, with a strong emphasis on modern, cloud-native digital platforms. You will act as a functional authority, validating that technology decisions align with how sportsbook and casino platforms actually operate at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a bridge between business/product and technology teams

Required Experience

Domain Expertise (Essential)

  • Strong understanding of sportsbook concepts: Markets, odds, bet lifecycle, cashout, settlement
  • Risk and trading models

This is a fully remote inside IR35 Contract role working via umbrella company so you must be UK based and willing to work on this basis.
