Summary: PEOPLE is seeking a UK-based Digital Photo Editor to join their APP team, focusing on creative visual storytelling related to photography, celebrity, and pop culture. The role requires autonomy in managing multiple projects under tight deadlines and involves photo research, licensing, and editing for publication. This is a full-time remote freelance position with specific working hours aligned to EST. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in photo editing and a passion for current events and pop culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, license, and edit/prepare photos for publication.
- Field a high volume of photo requests daily under tight deadlines.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to illustrate various stories/features and pitch interesting photos.
- Create unique photo content and composite art.
- Provide photo support for award shows and other special events.
- Fill in for team as needed.
Key Skills:
- Interest and knowledge of photography, celebrity, current events, and pop culture.
- Advanced eye for photo selection.
- Excellent Photoshop skills, including retouching techniques.
- Proficient in Adobe Suite, CMS (WordPress a plus), and DAM management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Advanced knowledge of photo agencies, pricing structures, licensing terms, and copyright rules.
- 3-5 years of experience in photo editing for a major entertainment website or relevant work experience.

PEOPLE is looking for a UK based photo editor to join our APP team! The ideal candidate is a problem solver with a passion for creative and innovative visual storytelling, as well as a deep love and knowledge of photography, celebrity and pop culture/current events. MUST be able to work autonomously with the capability to prioritize multiple projects with short deadlines! This is a full-time REMOTE freelance position MONDAY-FRIDAY: 4am-12pm EST.
This role will provide photo coverage for the People APP:
- Responsible for researching, licensing, and editing/ preparing photos for publication, fielding a high volume of photo requests daily under tight deadlines
- Work closely with the editorial team to illustrate various stories/features and pitch interesting photos
- Create unique photo content and composite art
- Provide photo support for award shows and other special events / fill in for team as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Possess an interest and knowledge of photography, celebrity, current events and pop culture
- Must have an advanced and keen eye for photo selection
- Excellent Photoshop skills (must be proficient in retouching techniques such as color correcting, silhouetting, layer masking, image sizing, and attention to fine details)
- Proficient in Adobe Suite, CMS (WordPress a plus), DAM management, Agency relations
- Must be a problem solver! Quick thinking and resourceful; be able to work autonomously with the capability to prioritize multiple projects with fast turn-around times
- Must possess advanced knowledge and relationship with photo agencies, pricing structures, licensing terms and basic copyright rules
- Knowledge of and interest in pop/celebrity culture and other topics covered on People.com and in PEOPLE Magazine
- 3-5 years of experience photo editing for a major entertainment website/ relevant work experience
Note: This is an open-ended part-time freelance position. Employee will be hired on a contract basis.
