Summary: The DevOps Lead Engineer will play a crucial role in leading the DevOps function for a prominent Financial Services client on a 6-month rolling contract. This position focuses on shaping architecture, driving automation, and ensuring system resilience and scalability, requiring a strong background in AWS, Java-based microservices, and Terraform. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent communication and leadership skills to foster a DevOps culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of DevOps practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Architect, build, and manage highly available, secure, and scalable AWS infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to build and deploy Java-based microservices.
  • Define and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Lead the development of CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment.
  • Enforce and evolve best practices around system reliability, monitoring, and observability.
  • Drive a DevOps culture through education, mentoring, and hands-on leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with security, risk, and regulatory requirements within a financial services context.
  • Partner with product, security, and compliance teams to deliver business value with high operational excellence.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and lead incident response efforts.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles.
  • Strong experience with AWS core services (EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Hands-on development background with Java and microservices-based architecture.
  • Expertise in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
  • Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (eg, Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
