Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and optimise AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles.
  • Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines, with a strong focus on GitLab CI.
  • Automate deployment, configuration and operational processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Support containerised workloads and cloud-native deployment patterns.
  • Implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions to improve platform visibility and operational performance.
  • Drive infrastructure resilience, scalability, security and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Support incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of platform and application services.
  • Promote DevOps best practices and continuous improvement across engineering teams.

Required Experience

  • Strong hands-on AWS experience, including services such as ECS, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS and related platform components.
  • Proven Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitLab CI.
  • Strong Docker and containerisation experience.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of AWS security best practices, IAM and Well-Architected principles.
  • Experience implementing automation and reducing manual operational overhead.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts including VPCs, DNS, load balancing and cloud connectivity.
  • Knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies and release management.
  • Experience working with serverless services and event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to database technologies, including MongoDB and other modern data platforms.

Desirable Experience

  • Public sector or government project experience.
  • Cloud cost optimisation and FinOps awareness.
  • DevSecOps and security automation experience.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled AWS services such as Bedrock and document-processing services such as Textract.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated or security-sensitive environments.
