Summary: The role of DevOps Engineer involves leading and supporting the build, deployment, and optimization of cloud-native infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, primarily within an AWS environment. The role is remote with occasional travel to York for meetings. The contract is for 6 months and classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS services and Terraform
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support application deployment and environment management
- Collaborate with development, data, and security teams to ensure efficient and secure infrastructure delivery
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and monitoring
- Ensure high availability, performance, and disaster recovery strategies are in place
- Monitor systems for performance and reliability issues, resolving incidents quickly and efficiently
- Advocate for DevOps best practices and continuous improvement within the team
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, ideally within a mid-to-large scale cloud environment
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. EC2, S3, ECS, Lambda, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch)
- Solid experience writing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar
- Familiarity with containerisation tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes a plus)
- Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK)
- Strong scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
