Senior CI/CD Consultant - Outside IR35 - Fully remote (UK Only)

Overview

We are supporting a major enterprise-scale cloud transformation programme and are seeking a highly experienced Senior CI/CD Consultant to join a high-performing engineering environment. This role sits at the centre of a large-scale migration initiative moving from a legacy cloud platform to a modern cloud-native architecture. The organisation requires a specialist who can design, build, and optimise world-class CI/CD pipelines that enable fast, safe, and reliable software delivery at scale. You will act as a senior technical authority in DevOps and release engineering, helping engineering teams modernise their delivery practices and adopt scalable automation patterns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines across multiple engineering teams
  • Define and drive best practices for build, test, release, and deployment automation
  • Build and maintain pipelines using modern tooling such as GitHub Actions
  • Support migration of existing CI/CD systems from a legacy cloud environment to a modern cloud platform
  • Improve deployment reliability, speed, and developer experience across the organisation
  • Embed infrastructure-as-code and GitOps principles into delivery workflows
  • Collaborate closely with platform engineering, cloud architecture, and application teams
  • Identify bottlenecks in release processes and implement scalable solutions
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are integrated into all pipelines
  • Mentor engineers and promote CI/CD maturity across teams

Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong hands-on expertise with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms (e.g. GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
  • Strong programming experience in TypeScript (or similar modern scripting languages used for automation and tooling)
  • Proven experience building scalable deployment systems for distributed or microservices-based architectures
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native development practices and containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience working on large-scale transformation or migration programmes
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous enterprise environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience with either major public cloud platform (Azure or Google Cloud)
  • Exposure to cloud migration programmes or platform modernisation initiatives
  • Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)
  • Experience with internal developer platforms (IDPs) or platform engineering teams
  • Background in large-scale logistics, supply chain, or enterprise organisations

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be helping a large enterprise modernise how software is built, tested, and deployed, moving away from legacy delivery processes towards a fully automated, cloud-native CI/CD ecosystem. This is a hands-on consulting role with significant influence over engineering standards, tooling, and delivery strategy.

Why Apply?

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape CI/CD strategy at scale, working within a complex global environment undergoing significant technical transformation. You’ll be instrumental in enabling faster, safer, and more reliable software delivery across hundreds of engineers.
