Summary: The Db2/Z Consultant role is a fully remote position focused on supporting a team of experienced Db2 z/OS DBAs. The consultant will engage in daily meetings, provide recommendations for data availability and security, assist with troubleshooting, and support major projects. The role starts with 2 hours a week, with the potential for increased hours over time. Strong communication skills and Db2 z/OS expertise are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting a team of experienced Db2 z/OS DBAs in all aspects of Db2 z/OS
- Attending daily meetings with DBAs
- Reading daily health check reports and making recommendations (e.g., BP sizes, RIDPOOL sizing)
- Making recommendations for data availability and security
- Assisting with troubleshooting any Db2 z/OS related issues
- Opening support cases with IBM, sending in documentation, driving issues to resolution
- Weekly report on open support cases
- Monitor proposed DBA changes and make recommendations (e.g., to improve availability during a change)
- Project work: supporting the DBA team on major projects
- Updating the DBA team and management on new Db2 z/OS function and best practices
- Updating the DBA team and management on new Db2 function levels and versions
- Updating the DBA team and management on known Db2 z/OS issues and workarounds
- Making maintenance recommendations and assisting with maintenance builds

- Db2 z/OS systems programming (installation, tuning, problem determination, hands on experience)
- Db2 z/OS Database Administration (tuning, utilities, object creation, SQL)
- SMP/E (Installation and maintenance of Db2 z/OS)

- IBM mainframe general knowledge (JCL, SDSF, SMF, RMF, address spaces, virtual and real storage)

Kforce has a client that is looking for a Db2/Z Consultant. This role will be fully remote and will start with 2 hours a week. It is a true Consultant role. Hours will increase over coming weeks and months.

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
