Databricks Analyst - 6 months Contract - £450/day via umbrella company - remote - SCC FLEX CONTRACT

We are seeking a Databricks Analyst to support the delivery of modern data and analytics solutions across a range of public and private sector customers. The role will focus on analysing data within Databricks Lakehouse environments, developing reports and dashboards, and providing actionable insights that support business decision-making. Working closely with Data Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders, you will transform complex datasets into meaningful information while contributing to enterprise-scale reporting and Business Intelligence initiatives.

Your responsibilities as a Databricks Analyst:

  • Gather, analyse, and document reporting and analytics requirements from business stakeholders.
  • Analyse structured and unstructured data within Databricks Lakehouse environments.
  • Develop and optimise SQL queries against Delta Lake and Lakehouse architectures.
  • Design and maintain data models, KPIs, and business metrics to support operational and strategic reporting.
  • Build and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualisations using Power BI and Databricks SQL.
  • Investigate trends, anomalies, and business performance indicators to provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to improve data pipelines, transformations, and reporting solutions.
  • Support data quality, validation, and governance processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of reporting outputs.
  • Produce management information packs, technical documentation, and functional documentation.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and report validation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and access control requirements.

As a suitable Databricks Analyst, you will have:

  • Proven experience working as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Reporting Analyst, or similar analytics-focused role.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks SQL and Databricks Lakehouse environments.
  • Strong SQL development, data analysis, and data modelling skills.
  • Experience working with Delta Lake architectures and modern data platforms.
  • Proven experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Azure data services, including Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Understanding of dimensional modelling concepts, including star schema design and business-focused data modelling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Experience engaging directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into clear, business-focused insights and recommendations.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale reporting, analytics, or data platforms within Azure-based environments.
