Summary: The role of Oracle Database Migration Subject Matter Expert (SME) involves leading the migration of over 20 Oracle Exadata and Exadata Cloud@Customer appliances to an Open Systems architecture. The position requires extensive hands-on experience in dismantling Exadata-specific dependencies and re-platforming enterprise-scale workloads using Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard. This high-visibility project is critical for infrastructure modernization and demands a senior-level expert to ensure successful execution. The candidate will be responsible for architecting and implementing zero-downtime migration strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, validate, and execute zero-downtime and near-zero-downtime migration strategies for 20+ Exadata/ExaCC appliances.
  • Configure, monitor, and tune Oracle GoldenGate for cross-platform logical replication alongside Oracle Data Guard for physical synchronization.
  • Identify and remediate Exadata-specific features to ensure optimal performance on commodity Open Systems.
  • Configure and optimize database workloads transferring from Exadata storage cells onto NVMe-based storage arrays.
  • Build, secure, and tune highly resilient Oracle RAC environments on standard enterprise Linux distributions.
  • Perform rigorous pre- and post-migration performance benchmarking to guarantee SQL workloads translate smoothly to standard compute fabrics.

Key Skills:

  • Proven history of successfully driving large-scale database migrations (20+ enterprise-scale appliances or hundreds of databases).
  • Expert-level hands-on experience deploying Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard / Broker configuration.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Clusterware, Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Real Application Clusters (RAC).
  • Deep hands-on experience administering, patching, and maintaining Oracle Database 19c.
  • Extensive production experience administering and decomposing Oracle Exadata and ExaCC platforms.
  • Solid understanding of configuring Oracle ASM over high-performance NVMe storage devices or enterprise fabrics.
  • Deep understanding of Linux OS kernel tuning specifically tailored for Oracle RAC.

About the Role
We are seeking an expert Oracle Database Migration Subject Matter Expert (SME) to architect and execute a massive infrastructure modernization initiative. In this role, you will lead the migration of 20+ Oracle Exadata and Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC) appliances to an Open Systems architecture running Oracle RAC on Linux with high-performance NVMe storage.
This is a high-visibility, mission-critical project. The ideal candidate will have extensive, hands-on experience dismantling Exadata-specific dependencies and successfully re-platforming enterprise-scale workloads using Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard.
Key Responsibilities
  • Migration Architecture: Design, validate, and execute zero-downtime and near-zero-downtime migration strategies for 20+ Exadata/ExaCC appliances.
  • Replication & Synchronization: Configure, monitor, and tune Oracle GoldenGate for cross-platform logical replication alongside Oracle Data Guard for physical synchronization and switchover pipelines.
  • Feature De-engineering: Identify and remediate Exadata-specific features (e.g., Smart Scans, Hybrid Columnar Compression, Storage Indexes) to ensure optimal performance on commodity Open Systems.
  • Platform & Storage Optimization: Configure and optimize database workloads transferring from Exadata storage cells onto open-systems NVMe-based storage arrays (including ASM disk group configuration).
  • Cluster Deployment: Build, secure, and tune highly resilient Oracle RAC environments on standard enterprise Linux distributions.
  • Performance Validation: Perform rigorous pre- and post-migration performance benchmarking (using AWR, ASH, and SPA) to guarantee SQL workloads translate smoothly to standard compute fabrics.
Required Technical Skills & Qualifications
  • Scale Experience: Proven history of successfully driving large-scale database migrations (20+ enterprise-scale appliances or hundreds of databases).
  • Migration Tooling Mastery: Expert-level hands-on experience deploying Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard / Broker configuration.
  • Oracle Grid & RAC: Advanced knowledge of Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Clusterware, Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Real Application Clusters (RAC).
  • Database Versions: Deep hands-on experience administering, patching, and maintaining Oracle Database 19c (specifically 19.30c / 19.31c).
  • Exadata Deconstruction: Extensive production experience administering and decomposing Oracle Exadata and ExaCC platforms.
  • NVMe & Storage: Solid understanding of configuring Oracle ASM over high-performance NVMe storage devices or enterprise fabrics.
  • Linux Expertise: Deep understanding of Linux OS kernel tuning (huge pages, network stack optimization) specifically tailored for Oracle RAC.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification.
  • Strong automation scripting skills (Shell, Python, or Ansible).
