Summary: We are looking for a proactive Database Administrator (DBA) with over 10 years of experience to manage the performance, integrity, and security of our databases in a remote capacity. The role involves collaboration with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure data availability and consistency. Key responsibilities include database installation, configuration, monitoring, and optimization, along with implementing security measures. The ideal candidate will possess strong SQL skills and experience with various database technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high levels of database availability
  • Perform regular backups, restore operations, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Implement database security measures and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and storage strategies
  • Develop and maintain documentation of database architecture and procedures
  • Support developers with database design and query optimization
  • Plan and implement data migrations, upgrades, and patches with minimal downtime
  • Perform capacity planning and forecasting of database infrastructure
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation (if applicable)

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA
  • Strong proficiency in database technologies such as RDBMS: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • NoSQL: MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views
