Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and advise on data protection and privacy matters across programmes and projects
  • Embed Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles into systems, processes, and services
  • Produce, review, and assure Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Provide expert guidance on UK GDPR, Data Protection Act and relevant public sector standards
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical specialists
  • Support governance, risk management, and assurance activities related to data protection
  • Where applicable, advise on data protection considerations for AI and machine learning systems

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in a Data Protection Lead/Senior Data Protection role
  • Strong hands-on experience with DPIAs in complex environments
  • Deep understanding of UK GDPR, data protection legislation, and public sector compliance
  • Demonstrable experience embedding privacy by design in digital or data-led programmes
  • Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working within Central Government or wider public sector (desirable)
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics systems, including associated privacy and ethical considerations (desirable)
  • Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation programmes (desirable)

Contract: 6 months
Rate: £650 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Remote (UK-based) with occasional travel to London (approx. once per month)

Overview

We are working with a Central Government client seeking an experienced Data Protection Lead to support a high-profile programme of work.

The role is predominantly remote but requires candidates to be UK-based, with occasional travel to London (typically once per month).

Key Responsibilities

Lead and advise on data protection and privacy matters across programmes and projects

Embed Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles into systems, processes, and services
