Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and advise on data protection and privacy matters across programmes and projects
- Embed Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles into systems, processes, and services
- Produce, review, and assure Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Provide expert guidance on UK GDPR, Data Protection Act and relevant public sector standards
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical specialists
- Support governance, risk management, and assurance activities related to data protection
- Where applicable, advise on data protection considerations for AI and machine learning systems
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in a Data Protection Lead/Senior Data Protection role
- Strong hands-on experience with DPIAs in complex environments
- Deep understanding of UK GDPR, data protection legislation, and public sector compliance
- Demonstrable experience embedding privacy by design in digital or data-led programmes
- Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working within Central Government or wider public sector (desirable)
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics systems, including associated privacy and ethical considerations (desirable)
- Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation programmes (desirable)

We are working with a Central Government client seeking an experienced Data Protection Lead to support a high-profile programme of work.
The role is predominantly remote but requires candidates to be UK-based, with occasional travel to London (typically once per month).
