Summary: The Data Migration Lead Consultant will oversee and execute comprehensive data migration activities for a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementation. This role requires expertise in data mapping, transformation, and cleansing, ensuring data integrity across systems. The consultant will collaborate with various stakeholders to define migration strategies and conduct quality checks throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage all aspects of data migration within the D365 F&O implementation.
- Analyse legacy data structures and design data mapping, transformation, and cleansing strategies.
- Develop and maintain data migration scripts, ETL processes, and staging environments using tools such as Azure Data Factory, KingswaySoft, SQL Server, or similar.
- Collaborate closely with functional leads, technical teams, and business stakeholders to define migration scope, priorities, and validation processes.
- Conduct data quality checks, reconciliation, and post-migration verification.
- Provide expert guidance on data governance, archiving, and cutover planning.
- Document all processes, configurations, and outcomes in line with project and compliance requirements.
- Support mock migrations, user acceptance testing (UAT), and go-live activities.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience delivering data migration projects within Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O / AX 2012 environments.
- Strong understanding of D365 data entities, data management framework (DMF), and integration concepts.
- Proficient in SQL, ETL tools (e.g. SSIS, KingswaySoft, Azure Data Factory), and data transformation scripting.
- Hands-on experience with Azure, Power Platform, and data validation techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for data quality, consistency, and process optimisation.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, able to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Previous experience working on large-scale ERP transformation programmes preferred.
