Summary: The Data Migration Engineer will play a critical role in a large-scale ERP transformation initiative, focusing on the planning, execution, and validation of data migration from Legacy systems to a new enterprise platform. This position requires full ownership of the migration process, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, compliance, and traceability. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders and provide hands-on support during the migration lifecycle. This role is remote and classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse Legacy system data structures and define detailed data mapping rules aligned with the target ERP data model.
- Design, develop, and execute ETL workflows for data extraction, transformation, and loading activities.
- Plan and conduct trial migrations, validate outputs, and reconcile migrated data against source systems.
- Lead data cleansing and de-duplication initiatives to enhance data quality prior to migration.
- Define and implement data archival strategies for Legacy data not migrated to the new ERP platform.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, validation records, and full traceability of migration processes.
- Collaborate closely with implementation teams, QA, validation, IT, and business stakeholders during preparation, testing, and cutover phases.
- Provide hands-on support during final cutover and post-go-live stabilization to ensure a seamless production transition.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience delivering ERP data migration projects (eg, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms).
- Strong hands-on expertise with ETL tools, SQL, and advanced data transformation techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in data mapping, data quality improvement, de-duplication, and archival processes.
- Familiarity with integration platforms such as Boomi, MuleSoft, Informatica, Talend, or SSIS.
- Experience working with cloud-based ERP environments.
- Solid understanding of validation processes, audit readiness, and structured documentation standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
