Project Overview
delivering a large, multi-phase, multi-cloud Salesforce implementation (Field Service, Service Cloud, Revenue Cloud Advanced) for a medical technology company that services a large installed base of regulated medical devices. Clean, well-governed data underpins the whole program, from installed base and service history to accounts, contracts, and billing.
solution design already in place. The consultant will own the data approach across workstreams: how static, dynamic, and historical data is modeled, governed, cleansed, transformed, and migrated. The role is as much coordination and governance as architecture: setting clear, repeatable standards and making sure the right teams complete the work, rather than doing all of it hands-on.
Scope of Work
- Ramp up quickly on the program and validate the existing data model and migration approach against each workstream’s requirements, flagging gaps and risks.
- Work with each workstream to document their static, dynamic, and historical data needs and translate them into clear requirements.
- Define and maintain the target data model and source-to-target mapping across the multi-cloud solution (accounts, contacts, assets/installed base, products, contracts, and more).
- Establish a master data management approach for core shared objects: golden records, de-duplication, and keying/external ID strategy.
- Provide data load templates for the workstreams and the business to populate.
- Ensure required data transformations are clearly defined, documented, and repeatable.
- Own the data migration strategy with the Project Manager: sequencing, load order, mock/trial loads, reconciliation and validation, and cutover planning.
- Write instructions for IT to execute data loads in higher environments (SIT, UAT, Production) and support the overall sandbox data strategy.
- Manage data cleansing: define quality rules and success criteria and make sure the responsible teams complete the work (oversight, not hands-on cleansing).
- Coordinate with the Technical and Integration Architects to separate one-time migration from ongoing data flows.
Required Experience
- 7+ years in data architecture, data migration, or data governance, including large CRM/Salesforce implementations.
- Strong Salesforce data modeling: objects and relationships, external IDs, keying strategy, and large data volume considerations.
- Hands-on data migration and ETL experience (e.g., Salesforce Data Loader, Boomi, Informatica, MuleSoft, Talend, dataloader.io), including load sequencing, reconciliation, and cutover.
- Experience defining data governance frameworks, quality standards, and data ownership models.
- A track record of building clear templates, mapping specifications, and well-documented, repeatable processes.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder skills across multiple teams, working closely with PMs on strategy and plan.
- Excellent written communication and documentation.
Nice to Have
- Med Tech, medical device, life sciences, or other regulated industry experience, including PII/PHI/HIPAA handling, data retention, and validation/audit considerations (e.g., GxP/CSV awareness).
- Multi-cloud Salesforce programs (Field Service, Service Cloud, Revenue Cloud Advanced).
- MDM tooling experience.
- Integration patterns and data pipelines (e.g., MuleSoft, APIs) to ERP and other source systems.
- Salesforce certifications (e.g., Data Architect, Application Architect, Administrator).
- Agile, multi-workstream program delivery.
