Role: Analyst – Data Governance: Location: Remote (EST Time Zone)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Partner with data stewards and business SMEs to define data quality rules, metrics, and remediation plans.
  • Maintain and enhance the enterprise data catalog, business glossary, and metadata repository.
  • Monitor data quality dashboards and produce regular reporting on KPIs and issue trends.
  • Facilitate data governance council meetings and document decisions, action items, and policy updates.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, BI, and IT Security teams on data lineage, classification, and access controls.
  • Assist in data privacy and regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA as applicable).
  • Identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution with data owners.
  • Develop and maintain governance documentation, SOPs, and training materials.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in data governance, data quality, data management, or related analyst roles.
  • Hands-on experience with data governance/catalog tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon/EDC, Alation, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of data governance concepts: data stewardship, metadata management, data lineage, master data management (MDM).
  • Proficiency in SQL for data profiling, validation, and quality checks.
  • Experience working with data quality frameworks and issue-tracking/remediation workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, insurance, or pharma).
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks).
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Certification such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodology.
