Summary: We are looking for a Data Systems Engineer with expertise in MySQL database management, data ingestion, and visualization to audit and assess data within ServiceNow. The ideal candidate should possess a systems-oriented mindset and familiarity with infrastructure and network topologies. Experience with ServiceNow's CMDB and CSDM data models is preferred. This role offers the flexibility of remote work or a location in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, write, and optimize complex MySQL queries for performance and scalability.
  • Develop recursive table structures to support hierarchical data models and reporting needs.
  • Implement and maintain ETL pipelines to ingest structured and unstructured data into MySQL databases.
  • Monitor and tune database performance, ensuring efficient query execution and resource utilization.
  • Build interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and Excel to support business intelligence and operational insights.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into data models and visualizations.
  • Apply knowledge of infrastructure and network topologies to support data architecture decisions and system integrations.
  • Work closely with IT and DevOps teams to ensure data systems align with broader enterprise architecture.
  • Develop familiarity with ServiceNow's Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to support asset tracking, dependency mapping, and service impact analysis.
  • Assist in aligning data systems with CMDB structures to improve visibility and operational efficiency.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in MySQL, including query writing, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with ETL tools and scripting for data ingestion and transformation.
  • Strong skills in Power BI and Excel for data visualization and reporting.
  • Understanding of recursive data structures and their application in relational databases.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure components such as servers, networks, and cloud environments.
  • Interest or experience in ServiceNow, particularly CMDB modules, is a plus.
