Summary: The Data Engineer role at Alliants involves designing, implementing, and optimizing Azure-based solutions for client projects, with a strong focus on DevOps practices. The position requires expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to enhance the scalability and performance of client systems. The role also includes client consultation and cross-functional collaboration to align Azure infrastructure with business goals. This is a contract position based in a remote working environment within the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement scalable, secure Azure solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep.
  • Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Implement containerization strategies using Docker and orchestrate with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Set up comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions using Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
  • Implement Azure security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Continuously analyze and optimize Azure resource usage for cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation runbooks for operational efficiency.
  • Engage directly with clients to assess their infrastructure and propose tailored Azure solutions.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on Azure technologies and DevOps practices.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration and data engineering roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Azure services, including compute, storage, networking, and identity.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (ARM templates, Terraform, Bicep).
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git).
  • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions in Azure.
  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
  • Proven experience in client-facing roles and technical assessments.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and change management practices.
