Summary: The Data Architect role focuses on leading the design and implementation of a comprehensive Microsoft Fabric data architecture, emphasizing the development of a lakehouse-based data platform. The position requires a technical leader to oversee data ingestion, transformation, and integration from various sources while translating business requirements into effective data models. Immediate availability for project initiation is essential, along with a strong emphasis on knowledge transfer and best practices. This role is remote and offers a contract duration of 4 months with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end Microsoft Fabric data architecture.
- Drive development of a lakehouse-based data platform using Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
- Oversee data ingestion, transformation, and integration from multiple sources (Postgres, APIs).
- Act as a technical leader and architect, ensuring scalable, reliable, and high-quality data solutions.
- Translate business requirements into data models, data products, and architecture decisions.
- Enable adoption through knowledge transfer, best practices, and reusable frameworks.
- Design end-to-end data architecture in Microsoft Fabric.
- Define ingestion frameworks for AutoLeap (Postgres, partner APIs).
- Establish Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers (medallion architecture).
- Define lakehouse strategy and semantic data models.
- Set standards for change data capture (CDC) and incremental loads, global identifiers, data quality, auditing, and reconciliation.
- Oversee development of data pipelines (Fabric Pipelines, Notebooks), data staging, transformations, and conformance.
- Consolidate multiple data sources (ICDB, DME) into a unified lakehouse.
- Ensure outbound data feeds meet requirements for Power BI reporting, external partners, and internal systems.
- Lead structured requirements gathering with stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into canonical POS data models and Gold layer data products.
- Validate and align mappings with source systems (AutoLeap schemas).
- Define and execute data completeness and validation checks, reconciliation with legacy systems, and performance and refresh SLAs.
- Develop formal test plans and acceptance criteria.
- Train and mentor internal teams by pairing during design and development, explaining architectural decisions, and documenting patterns and standards.
- Build and handover reusable frameworks and best practices for sustained operations.
Key Skills:
- Graduation: B.Tech/B.E, MBA/MCA.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks), Spark/PySpark, and semantic models with Power BI integration.
- Expertise in modern data architecture (lakehouse, medallion patterns).
- Experience in data migration and system-of-record transitions.
- Experience with transaction-heavy systems (POS, retail, automotive, or similar).
- Strong background in API-based data ingestion and relational databases (Postgres preferred).
- Ability to design data products for internal analytics and external data sharing with partners.
- Ability to work in ambiguity and define clear execution paths.
- Experience acting as Solution Architect, Technical Lead, and mentor/trainer.
