Summary: The Data Architect role involves leading the Discovery Phase of the SAP Finance & HR Transformation Programme, focusing on the transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. The position requires defining strategies for data archiving and migration, ensuring compliance and optimization of data transfer. The Data Architect will collaborate with various stakeholders to assess current data landscapes and design practical solutions for data management. This role offers a fully remote working arrangement with occasional meetings in Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading data discovery across master and transactional finance datasets.
  • Assessing the current SAP ECC data footprint, usage patterns, and legacy volume.
  • Designing a practical data archiving strategy in alignment with business and compliance needs.
  • Defining a data migration roadmap aligned to the transformation timeline.
  • Evaluating appropriate tools and technologies for efficient extraction, cleansing, and loading of data into S/4HANA.
  • Working closely with business SMEs, IT stakeholders, and the SAP solution team.
  • Communicating SAP Readiness Check for SAP S/4 HANA Report in business language.
  • Compiling technical findings and presenting them in a user-friendly manner.
  • Reviewing and updating system inventory to migrate data.
  • Estimating delivery timelines, cost inputs, and ROI analysis based on reviews.
  • Producing various deliverables including reports and project plans.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with SAP ECC and S/4HANA.
  • Strong understanding of data archiving and migration strategies.

Your New Role This engagement covers the Discovery Phase of the SAP Finance & HR Transformation Programme. Our client is planning to transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, with significant data volumes accumulated over many years in the SAP ECC. A dedicated Data Architect is required to define the strategy and roadmap for data archiving and data migration, ensuring that only required, compliant, and optimised data is moved to the target system.

What you will be doing The Data Architect will be responsible for:

  • Leading data discovery across master and transactional finance datasets.
  • Assessing the current SAP ECC data footprint, usage patterns, and legacy volume.
  • Designing a practical data archiving strategy in alignment with business and compliance needs.
  • Defining a data migration roadmap aligned to the transformation timeline.
  • Evaluating appropriate tools and technologies for efficient extraction, cleansing, and loading of data into S/4HANA.
  • Working closely with business SMEs, IT stakeholders, and the SAP solution team.
  • Ability to communicate SAP Readiness Check for SAP S/4 HANA Report in business language
  • Compile all the technical findings and present it back in a business/user friendly language
  • The work completed will enable to start the work.
  • Integration/Interface review - Review and update system Inventory to migrate data
  • Based on the review enables estimation of the delivery timelines, Cost inputs and ROI analysis

What you will need The Data Architect will produce the following deliverables:

  • Data Discovery & Landscape Assessment Report - current ECC data landscape, volumes, and business usage.
  • Archiving Strategy Document - identifying which data can be archived or decommissioned, aligned with compliance and audit needs.
  • Data Migration Roadmap - including phasing, objects in scope, tooling, environments, and timing considerations.
  • Master & Transactional Data Inventory - identifying business-critical data required in S/4HANA.
  • Tooling Options Evaluation - analysis of SAP and third-party tools for data extraction and transformation.
  • Discovery Close-Out Summary - capturing findings, risks, and next-step recommendations for design and execution phases.
  • Discovery Phase Close-Out Report - including findings, risks, and next-step recommendations for Phase 2.
  • Project Plan to start the project with key milestones
