Position Overview
We are seeking an elite Data Architect Consultant for an intensive, high-impact discovery and research phase to support a major modernization initiative for a flagship maritime hospitality and culinary/food operations ecosystem.
The primary objective of this contract is to rapidly audit the client's current legacy data landscape, map distributed shipboard and shoreside data structures, and deliver a comprehensive architectural blueprint that will establish the foundation for future development phases.
The consultant will act as the core technical expert under our delivery framework.
Core Roles & Responsibilities
- Rapid Discovery & Current-State Mapping: Immediately audit existing shoreside data structures and localized shipboard database frameworks. Map how data currently flows between onboard Point of Sale (POS) terminals, culinary inventory management applications, and guest hospitality systems.
- Stakeholder Research & Requirements Gathering: Conduct deep-dive technical interviews and workshops with business leaders, culinary operations managers, and IT infrastructure teams to define the long-term data strategy and organizational goals.
- Identify Maritime Constraints & Opportunities: Research and document specific data sync, replication, and latency constraints caused by intermittent deep-sea satellite/network connectivity. Identify new data acquisition strategies to support real-time provisioning and food waste tracking.
- Data Modeling & Architecture Blueprinting: Create high-level logical data models and architectural diagrams that illustrate a secure, scalable, and performant hybrid edge/cloud solution.
- Deliver Final Assessment & Best Practices: Compile a comprehensive technical discovery report outlining findings, identifying data quality/governance gaps, and providing explicit technology selection and architecture recommendations.
Target Deliverables (Timeline-Based KPIs)
- Week 1: Complete current-state infrastructure audit and stakeholder interviews; deliver an initial data lineage map.
- Week 2: Complete data quality, gap analysis, and synchronization constraint research; deliver initial logical data models.
- Week 3: Deliver the final Target-State Data Architecture Blueprint and technical recommendation roadmap for the implementation team.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 8+ years as an Enterprise Data Architect specializing in rapid-discovery consulting or system modernization blueprints. Strong background mapping complex systems in enterprise hospitality, cruise lines, supply chain, or high-volume retail/POS environments is required.
- System Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of hybrid cloud data architectures (AWS/Azure), edge computing, and distributed database synchronization/replication patterns.
- Methodology: Exceptional capability in data modeling, technical documentation, and translating messy legacy infrastructure into clean, structured architectural diagrams.
- Communication: Elite stakeholder management skills; ability to embed with a team instantly, lead interviews, and extract technical requirements under a tight timeline.
