Summary: The role of Data Architect involves owning and shaping the overall data architecture for a modern microservices-based platform. The position requires strong data modelling skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams to ensure alignment between conceptual and physical data models. The candidate must hold active SC clearance and be prepared for occasional travel to Leeds and Newcastle. This is a remote position with an initial duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end data architecture across domains and microservices
- Maintain and develop Conceptual and Logical Data Models
- Ensure physical implementations align with logical models across development teams
- Maintain Physical Data Schemas and Data Dictionary (currently in Excel)
- Act as the SME for platform data structures and relationships
- Support operational analytics requirements with data and performance teams
- Contribute to data governance improvements and best practices
- Work closely with architects, developers, and programme stakeholders
Key Skills:
- Strong Data Modelling experience (Conceptual, Logical, Physical)
- Experience with data modelling tools (e.g. Lucid, Erwin or similar)
- Ability to advise and collaborate with development teams
- Experience with MongoDB and JSON-based data structures
- Ability to query and analyse data using SQL or Python in Databricks
- Experience with Data Catalogue tools (Axon beneficial)
- Good understanding of data governance and stewardship practices
