Summary: Hydrogen Group is seeking experienced Cost Managers for contract roles in mission critical and large-scale data center construction programs across the US. The position involves consultancy-facing responsibilities, requiring expertise in cost management, budgeting, and change management within the construction sector. Candidates should have a strong background in data center projects and be adept at managing costs throughout the project lifecycle. This role demands excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex data to stakeholders effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create estimates and cost plans for data center and mission critical program developments, supporting clients through all stages of the project lifecycle
- Actively participate in the tender and bid process – from initial documentation preparation through analysis, evaluation, and reporting
- Manage the full change management process – identifying, analyzing, approving, and implementing changes that affect project cost
- Oversee project spend through the creation of valuations and cost reports, and clearly communicate cost variations to project stakeholders
- Analyze tenders and bids to ensure client value for money, including review of GC and subcontractor submissions
- Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts, including handling of claims to ensure the client achieves best value from works undertaken
- Support the settlement of construction disputes and loss and expense claims with transparency and accuracy
- Maintain excellent cost documentation to support nimble project management and clear, timely decision-making
- Contribute to benchmarking, cost model development, and the maintenance of historical cost data across programs
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Cost Management, or a related construction discipline – or commensurate hands-on experience
- 2+ years of experience in cost management on mission critical, data center, or large-scale infrastructure construction programs
- Demonstrated pre-contract cost management experience – budget control, cost planning, and preparing and initiating change forms for discussion with project stakeholders
- Strong command of the full cost management lifecycle: estimating, cost planning, change management, valuations, and final account settlement
- Knowledge of alternative construction materials and methods applicable to data center and critical infrastructure delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to present complex cost data clearly to senior client stakeholders
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills for detailed cost modelling, reporting, and benchmarking

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Hydrogen Group is actively sourcing experienced Cost Managers to support mission critical and large-scale data center construction programs across the US. These are contract roles working on the owner/operator or program management consultancy side, supporting clients with active, concurrent construction programs at scale.
This is a consultancy-facing role. Ideally looking for candidates with direct cost management experience in data center or mission critical construction – including pre-contract cost planning, budgeting, change management, and final account settlement. A background in a construction consultancy environment is also preferred.

– Experience working with Procore, CostX, or equivalent cost management platforms
– Life sciences or pharmaceutical construction cost management background
