After negotiating with the building industry to turn the high-level principles of the 2022 developer pledge into a legally binding commitment, we have now secured over 50 signatures from major developers to developer remediation contracts committing them to over 3Bn of remediation works on their unsafe buildings.Following this great success, we have established an expansive Responsible Actors Scheme to ensure we continue to hold developers to account. Our Correspondence Officers provide a critical function in pulling together our work and translating it into clear, robust and high-quality correspondence products for a range of important stakeholders including the Secretary of State, other Ministers and senior officials as well as wider interest groups.This role involves a high level of Ministerial engagement and public and media interest and provides the central route through which the general public can engage with the Ministry. Successful candidates will enjoy being on top of and alive to a wide range of policy work and be able to convert that into succinct products that meet our customers needs.Job DescriptionAs a Correspondence Officer your core role will be to draft replies to Ministerial and public correspondence, and support policy teams as required.You will: Prepare responses to correspondence from MPs, key stakeholders and members of the public about building safety issues and other issues for which RID has responsibility. Decide which correspondence can be answered using standard lines and which requires bespoke policy input, commissioning and monitoring this input from policy teams where necessary. Self and peer review draft replies, ensuring responses are of the right quality (in terms of content, tone and accurate use of English). Identify and monitor key themes of correspondence. Establish and maintain good working relationships with MHCLG s central correspondence team and with policy teams. Provide support, as necessary, to the wider team.Person specification Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
