The Role
You'll be responsible for the design, development and implementation of embedded software for sophisticated electronic systems operating within the power electronics and electrical power distribution domain.
Working closely with hardware, systems and test engineers, you'll contribute throughout the full development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to implementation, integration and verification.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong embedded software development experience using C and/or C++
- Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems
- A solid understanding of AC power distribution and transmission principles, including electrical protection concepts and power system fundamentals
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Confident debugging and integrating embedded software with electronic hardware
Desirable Experience
- Embedded software development for power protection relays
- Experience with substation automation or electrical protection systems
- Familiarity with IEC 61850 or other power system communication protocols
- Experience working on high-reliability or safety-critical systems
- Knowledge of electrical power conversion, power electronics or grid-connected systems
- Understanding of electrical fault detection, protection algorithms or power system control
