Summary: The role of Contract Data Engineer involves supporting a retail organization's IT transformation by modernizing its data estate and migrating to a cloud-based platform using Microsoft Azure technologies. The position requires collaboration within a team to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and models, ensuring data quality and accessibility. The contract is initially for six months and is classified as inside IR35. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in data engineering to contribute to the organization's data modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the migration from legacy systems to a modern cloud-based data platform.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and models.
- Ensure data quality and accessibility across the organization.
- Collaborate with team members on data integration and modeling tasks.
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Platform technologies (Synapse, Data Lakes, ADF).
- Expertise in data modelling, ETL/ELT pipeline development, and data integration.
- Proficient in SQL and Python (ideally PySpark).
- Knowledge of tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and DevOps (CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience working with enterprise data sources and APIs (e.g., Salesforce, MuleSoft).
- Familiarity with data governance, GDPR, and best practices in secure data provisioning.
