Summary: The Content Designer role involves creating user-focused digital content for UK Government and public sector services, primarily working in a remote setting with occasional onsite requirements in London. The position requires collaboration within an Agile, multidisciplinary team to ensure content meets GDS and accessibility standards. Candidates must have a strong background in content design, particularly within the UK Government or public sector. The contract duration is between 6 to 12 months, with a daily rate of £350.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write, edit and publish digital content using CMS tools
- Create user centred, plain language content backed by data and user research
- Apply GDS style guides, content patterns and accessibility requirements
- Prototype and iterate content within Agile teams
- Translate user stories and insights into clear, actionable content
- Work confidently with Whitehall specific publishing requirements
Key Skills:
- Content Design experience in UK Government/Public Sector
- Strong understanding of UX and user centred design
- Knowledge of WCAG and GDS accessibility standards
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary Agile teams
- Experience contributing to content strategies (nice to have)
- Ability to create new content patterns (nice to have)
- Experience in cross government or complex stakeholder environments (nice to have)
- Familiarity with assistive technologies (nice to have)
- Workshop facilitation skills (nice to have)
- Experience with digital workflow tools (Jira, Miro, Trello) (nice to have)
