Summary: The Content Designer role involves creating user-centered content that adheres to GDS guidelines while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities:

• Create and iterate user-centred content that meets GDS guidelines.
• Work within multidisciplinary teams including User Researchers, Service Designers, Interaction Designers, and Developers.
• Conduct and apply user research to guide content decisions.
• Map out user journeys and design content to support the full user experience.
• Champion plain English, accessibility, and inclusive design principles.
• Participate in content critiques, peer reviews, and assure content quality across services.
• Support the wider team in understanding GDS principles and ensuring content meets government standards.

Key Skills:

• Proven experience working as a Content Designer in an agile environment, ideally on UK Government digital services.
• Deep knowledge of GDS service design standards and best practices.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design, accessibility, and content strategy.
• Skilled at simplifying complex information for diverse user groups.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
• Experience using content management systems (CMS) and collaboration tools like Confluence, Jira, or similar.
• Desirable: Previous experience working on Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases within GDS project lifecycles.
• Understanding of prototyping and user-testing methods.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
