Consultant - Chief Legal Counsel or General Counsel

Summary: Arootah is seeking an experienced Chief Legal Counsel or General Counsel to provide expert legal advice to Hedge Funds and Family Offices. The role involves managing legal functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and collaborating with internal stakeholders on various projects. Candidates should have extensive experience in securities laws and a strong background in the investment management sector. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct best practice reviews.
• Develop realistic and effective action plans.
• Break down goals into actionable steps.
• Advise on vendor selection and oversight.
• Create and implement policies, procedures, and control measures.
• Evaluate client advancement toward goals using KPIs and scoring matrices.
• Manage special projects or other areas of need.
• Oversee day-to-day legal functions and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with the Founder, Chief Compliance Officer, and outside counsel.
• Draft and negotiate legal documentation and agreements.
• Monitor changes to applicable laws and conduct training as needed.
• Support litigation-related matters.

Key Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree.
• Member in good standing of the bar in one or more U.S. states.
• 12+ years of experience as Chief Legal Counsel or General Counsel.
• 8+ years of experience with Federal securities laws and regulations.
• Extensive experience with various investment vehicles and regulatory agencies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
