Summary: The Compliance Monitoring and Testing Associate role is a contract position focused on enhancing the compliance oversight framework within a tech-driven environment. The associate will be responsible for conducting risk-based compliance monitoring and testing reviews, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards in both traditional financial services and emerging crypto markets. This position requires a background in audit, risk, or compliance, along with strong project management skills. The role is remote and offers a competitive hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform risk-based CMT reviews covering regulatory obligations for BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions compliance.
- Track and validate the implementation of remediation plans submitted by finding owners.
- Follow established Policy and Procedures in the CMT life cycle and provide necessary escalations.
- Stay current on regulatory developments and industry events to identify trends and emerging risks.
- Provide information for reports on CMT review results and assist in root cause analysis.
- Continuously add value through effective project management and execution.
- Maintain and update findings and remediation-related documentation in a central repository.
- Participate in training and awareness materials regarding the CMT Program.
- Conduct other duties as assigned.
Key Skills:
- 4+ years of experience in internal audit and/or CMT program execution.
- Track record of delivering work outcomes to budget and quality standards.
- Knowledge of auditing/testing compliance with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation.
- Working knowledge of compliance-related laws and risk management practices.
- Flexibility to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Word/Google Docs, PowerPoint/Google Slides, and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Good written/verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in data extraction and analysis (e.g., SQL, Tableau, SAS, Snowflake is advantageous).
- Professional certifications (e.g., CRCM, CAMS, CIA, CISA, CICA are advantageous).
- Experience in monitoring and testing third-party vendors is advantageous.
- Experience with financial services regulators is advantageous.
- Interest in cryptocurrency is advantageous.

Our client is looking for an experienced Compliance Monitoring and Testing (CMT) Associate to contribute to the design, execution, and improvement of their compliance oversight framework, helping ensure that key controls and processes meet the highest regulatory standards across both traditional financial services and emerging crypto markets. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in audit, risk, or compliance who’s ready to apply their expertise in a fast-evolving, tech-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform risk-based CMT reviews that cover regulatory obligations for BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions and/or non-AML/CFT and Sanctions (e.g., consumer protections, fair and safe trading, systems and controls) compliance.
- Track and validate the implementation of remediation plans submitted by finding owners to verify that findings identified during testing and monitoring are remediated.
- Follow established Policy and Procedures in the CMT life cycle of planning, execution, reporting, and finding remediation, and provide escalation as needed.
- Stay current on regulatory development and industry events to identify trends and emerging risks impacting their products and the CMT Program.
- Provide information for the reports on results of CMT reviews and work with stakeholders in root cause analysis and remediation plans.
- Continuously add value through effective project management and efficient execution.
- Maintain and update (as needed) findings and remediation-related information and documentation in a central repository - Archer.
- Participate in training and/or awareness materials (as needed) regarding the CMT Program.
- Conduct other duties as assigned.
Experience/Skills:
- 4+ years of experience in executing internal audit and/or CMT program, testing plan, and activities across a diverse range of financial services/products
- Track record of delivering work outcome to budget and meet quality standard
- Knowledge and experience in auditing/testing compliance with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation
- Working knowledge of compliance related laws, regulations, risk management practices for financial services
- Flexibility to work extended hours to meet deadlines, when necessary
- Proficient in Word/Google Doc, PowerPoint/Google Slides and Excel/Google Sheets
- Good written/verbal communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
