Summary: The Senior Compensation Manager role focuses on leading compensation initiatives across Europe, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and compliance with regulations. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and expertise in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech or Medical Device industries. The role involves conducting market analyses, managing compensation programs, and providing strategic guidance on compensation-related matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in compensation management and advanced technical skills in relevant software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on compensation initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate compensation philosophy and strategic business goals.
  • Serve as a trusted consultant to business units, providing guidance on job evaluations, compensation analyses, pay equity studies, and total reward reviews.
  • Conduct market analysis and research to support compensation decisions and recommendations, ensuring internal and external competitiveness to attract and retain top talent.
  • Participate in and manage annual global compensation and salary surveys, ensuring accurate representation of Europe, New Markets, and the Americas.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, and external advisors to ensure compliance with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and regional pay regulations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programmes and model alternative scenarios and recommendations.
  • Support annual compensation planning, analysis, and reporting within the Workday Advanced Compensation module.
  • Oversee market pricing, job grading/levelling, and classification for all new and evolving roles across Europe.
  • Prepare detailed reports and deliver in-depth analysis of compensation data for senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends and assess the external competitiveness of salary administration programmes.
  • Collaborate with US-based teams to analyse market data for designated European countries and establish updated competitive salary ranges annually.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with company policies.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive compensation or total rewards experience (or 5+ years with a Master’s degree).
  • Prior experience within Biotech or Pharmaceutical environments is strongly preferred.
  • Strong PC literacy with advanced proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), particularly Excel.
  • Proven experience using Workday, including Advanced Compensation modules.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and customer service skills.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to partner effectively across geographies and functions.

Location: Remote, hiring out of the UK

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Compensation Manager to lead and support compensation initiatives across the European region. Reporting into the Senior Director, Global Compensation & Recognition, this role plays a critical part in shaping competitive, compliant, and data-driven compensation programmes aligned with business strategy and organisational philosophy. This is a highly collaborative role, partnering closely with regional and global stakeholders across HR, Legal, and external consultants, with strong exposure to international compensation frameworks and regulatory requirements.

Must have experience: Prior or current experience operating in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech or Medical Device industries
