Description & Requirements
On behalf of The Cabinet Office, we are looking for a Communications & Content Officer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based remotely with travel / office attendance in Glasgow, London or York as and when required.
The Cabinet Office supports the Prime Minister and ensures the effective running of government. The Cabinet Office is also the corporate headquarters for the government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and takes the lead in certain critical policy areas. As a Communications & Content Officer your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop and deliver communications plans aligned with the Grants Function’s objectives and priorities.
- Create, write, edit and quality-assure high-quality content for a range of audiences and communication channels.
- Produce newsletters, briefings, memos, presentations, videos and other engaging communications materials.
- Adapt complex information into clear, accessible and engaging content for internal and external audiences.
- Provide communications and content support to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
- Manage media and stakeholder enquiries, including interview preparation, key messaging and supporting media activity.
- Coordinate communications and content for major events, including the Grants Conference.
- Support media events, stakeholder engagement activities and wider communications campaigns.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners and key stakeholders.
- Monitor communications and content performance, using feedback and insight to identify improvements.
- Produce regular reports and recommendations for senior management.
- Ensure all content and communications are accurate, consistent, accessible and aligned with organisational standards.
Essential:
- Proven experience in a communications, content, PR, media or similar role.
- Experience developing and delivering communications plans aligned with organisational objectives.
- Strong content creation and editing skills, with experience producing written, digital and/or multimedia content.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging and audience-appropriate content.
- Experience managing media enquiries, interviews and stakeholder communications.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to provide communications advice.
- Experience supporting conferences, events or major stakeholder engagement activity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality, accurate content.
Desirable:
- Experience working in government, public sector or a regulated environment.
- Experience communicating grants, funding, programmes or policy.
- Experience in digital communications, websites, social media or email marketing.
- Experience supporting crisis, issues or reputational communications.
- Relevant communications, PR, journalism, marketing or content qualification.
