Summary: Javen Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer with expertise in COBOL and SAS for a fully remote position. The ideal candidate will have a background in Agile Business Analysis and mainframe technologies. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with relevant software development experience, is required. Knowledge of additional programming languages and tools is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software applications using COBOL and SAS.
- Participate in Agile Business Analysis and application development processes.
- Utilize mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure software quality and adherence to best practices.
- Engage in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or comparable.
- 5 years or less of software development experience.
- Proficiency in COBOL and SAS.
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with Snowflake environment tools, ETL, and file movement using sFTP.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or comparable with 5 years or less of software development experience. Knowledge of object-oriented design and development experience with one or more of the following programing languages: Cobol, SAS, other open-system languages. Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. Experience with any of the following, a plus: Snowflake environment tools like Elevate, Switchboard, DBT; ETL; file movement using sFTP. Understanding of basic networking and firewall concepts. Experience with version control solutions, preferably Git/GitHub. Understanding of the full software development lifecycle. Familiarity with security best practices for software development. Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
