Summary: The role of Cobol Developer with TX Series experience involves enhancing and modernizing critical business applications developed in C and running on IBM TXSeries with CICS. The developer will collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to transition workloads to hybrid or cloud-native platforms. Key responsibilities include analyzing and maintaining applications, migrating application logic to modern architectures, and implementing CI/CD practices. The position requires a strong understanding of COBOL and related technologies, particularly in a Linux environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, maintain, and enhance applications developed in C using EXEC CICS commands.
- Understand and work with TXSeries CICS region configuration and transaction flows.
- Recompile CICS-based C applications for modern Linux environments.
- Design and implement solutions to containerize or replat form legacy transactional workloads.
- Migrate CICS application logic to modern microservices or API-based architecture where appropriate.
- Collaborate with architects, DBAs, and MQ teams to ensure end-to-end transaction flow.
- Implement logging, observability, and CI/CD practices for C-based transaction apps.
- Should be able to understand COBOL programs especially datatypes and must modify as required.
- Should have platform understanding of AIX and Linux especially with network byte ordering.
- Understanding of 32-bit and 64-bit COBOL types.
- COBOL Debugging skills.
