CMDB Analyst

Overview:
This role is primarily focused on process, governance, and coordination within IT Asset Management and CMDB (Configuration Management Database), rather than hands-on data entry or record updates.

Key Responsibilities:
• CMDB & Asset Governance
o Ensure the accuracy and integrity of asset inventory within the CMDB module.
o Focus on maintaining alignment between asset management and IT asset governance practices.
o Drive accountability across stakeholders to ensure all assets are properly tracked and managed.
• Stakeholder Coordination
o Work closely with internal teams (including IT, Security, and Asset Management) to ensure compliance and data quality.
o Not responsible for directly updating records—instead, this role coordinates with stakeholders who own the data.
o Act as a liaison to ensure all parties are maintaining their responsibilities.
• Compliance & Data Quality
o Ensure configuration items (CIs) are accurate and meet compliance standards.
o Help improve stakeholder adherence to CMDB and asset management processes.
o Support the organization in reaching higher levels of governance maturity.
• Security & Risk Alignment
o Partner with the Security team, who rely on CMDB data for risk identification.
o Coordinate responses when issues or gaps in asset data are identified.
o Ensure the right data is available to support security and compliance initiatives.
• Licensing & Asset Accountability
o Support oversight of IT licensing and ensure proper governance of IT assets.
o Ensure the organization can account for all technology assets.

Environment / Scope:
• ~50,000 end-user computing devices
• ~5,000 cloud-based assets
• Highly scaled environment requiring strong coordination and oversight

Role Positioning:
• This is a governance-focused role, not a hands-on CMDB administrator position.
• The individual will ensure processes are followed and stakeholders are held accountable.
• Works closely with (and potentially supports) the IT CMDB Manager until that position is fully established or stabilized.
• Acts as a coordinator/influencer, ensuring teams are doing what is required rather than executing the work directly.

Ideal Profile:
• Strong understanding of CMDB concepts, IT Asset Management (ITAM), and governance frameworks
• Experience working cross-functionally with multiple IT stakeholders
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Ability to enforce process adherence without direct ownership of data entry

Qualifications:
- 3+ years of ITSM/CMDB experience
- Experience with ServiceNow (CMDB and ITSM modules)
- Understanding of ITIL/ITAM processes
- Exposure to CSDM alignment
-Good analytical and stakeholder management skills
- ITIL V3/V4 Certified
- IT Asset Management Certified
