Summary: The Cloud Platform Engineer role focuses on delivering cloud solutions within the Energy and Oil & Gas sectors, requiring expertise in Azure and ideally AWS. Immediate availability is preferred for this consultancy role, which is remote for a duration of 6 to 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational infrastructure support and maintenance in the Energy / Oil & Gas sector.
- Shape cloud strategy by providing tactical input to the Cloud Architect.
- Drive FinOps / SRE practices and govern operations of managed service providers.
- Adopt modern practices including GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD development.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and manage relationships.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer in the Energy / Oil & Gas industry.
- Expertise in Azure with hands-on Cloud Engineering experience.
- Experience with FinOps, Infrastructure as Code, Configuration Management, and CI/CD platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Microsoft Certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of AWS and relevant certifications.
- Immediate availability.

My client is a high profile Consultancy who urgently require a Cloud Platform Engineer with proven Energy / Oil & Gas industry experience, along with strong Azure (and ideally AWS too) expertise and proven experience with FinOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Configuration Management, and modern CI/CD platforms and workflows.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer with proven Energy / Oil & Gas industry experience
- Expertise in Azure (hands-on Cloud Engineering)
- Proven experience with FinOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Configuration Management, and modern CI/CD platforms and workflows
- Excellence in operational infrastructure support and maintenance (including cloud data centres) in the Energy / Oil & gas sector, covering systems such Server, Storage, Back-up & Recovery, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and Security services
- Ability to help to shape the Cloud strategy by providing key tactical input to the Cloud Architect, driving FinOps / SRE practices and governing the operations of managed service providers (third parties)
- Capability to help drive the adoption of modern practices, including GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Ansible / Bicep / ARM), and CI/CD development (transitioning from Azure DevOps to GitHub Enterprise)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to have:
- Microsoft Certification (ie Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
- Working knowledge of AWS and subsequent AWS certifications
