Summary: The Cloud Platform Engineer role focuses on delivering cloud solutions within the Energy/Oil and Gas sector, requiring expertise in Azure and ideally AWS. The position emphasizes operational infrastructure support, FinOps, and modern CI/CD practices. The role is remote and is expected to last between 6 to 12 months. Key Responsibilities:

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer with proven Energy/Oil & Gas industry experience
  • Expertise in Azure (hands-on Cloud Engineering)
  • Proven experience with FinOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Configuration Management, and modern CI/CD platforms and workflows
  • Excellence in operational infrastructure support and maintenance (including cloud data centres) in the Energy/Oil & gas sector, covering systems such Server, Storage, Back-up & Recovery, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and Security services
  • Ability to help to shape the Cloud strategy by providing key tactical input to the Cloud Architect, driving FinOps/SRE practices and governing the operations of managed service providers (third parties)
  • Capability to help drive the adoption of modern practices, including GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible/Bicep/ARM), and CI/CD development (transitioning from Azure DevOps to GitHub Enterprise)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

My client is a high profile Consultancy who urgently require a Cloud Platform Engineer with proven Energy/Oil & Gas industry experience, along with strong Azure (and ideally AWS too) expertise and proven experience with FinOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Configuration Management, and modern CI/CD platforms and workflows.
