Summary: The Cloud Network Engineer role focuses on providing vision, strategy, architecture, and hands-on engineering for enterprise-grade hybrid cloud platforms. This position involves leading the development of scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions across various cloud environments while mentoring engineering teams and advising IT leadership. The engineer will also drive technology research, design, automation, and delivery throughout the infrastructure lifecycle. This is a long-term remote position based in Rochester, NY.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and drive the enterprise hybrid cloud strategy across Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and on-premises platforms.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to IT leadership on cloud adoption, modernization, and cost optimization.
- Lead business-critical infrastructure initiatives, platform transformations, and strategic technology programs.
- Establish technology standards, governance models, and best practices for cloud, network, and security architectures.
- Provide mentorship, technical leadership, and guidance to engineering teams and junior staff.
- Architect and design secure, scalable, and highly available cloud and on-prem infrastructure solutions.
- Integrate multiple systems and technologies across cloud, network, virtualization, and security domains.
- Conduct proof-of-concepts, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend enterprise adoption paths.
- Create detailed design documents, deployment architectures, and operational runbooks.
- Lead capacity planning, performance optimization, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
- Build and maintain optimized hybrid cloud environments leveraging PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, and on-prem resources.
- Develop automation workflows using Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, YAML/JSON, and REST APIs.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC), configuration management, and CI/CD practices.
- Ensure strong operational performance, resiliency, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement in monitoring, observability, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure alignment with security, compliance, audit, and SOX requirements across all infrastructure layers.
- Implement secure network architectures including SDWAN, next-gen firewalls, segmentation, and zero-trust principles.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce policies, standards, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Partner with vendors, OEMs, and SMEs to evaluate products, negotiate solutions, and support RFI/RFP processes.
- Provide clear communication, documentation, and executive-level updates on project progress and technical decisions.

This role leads the development of scalable, resilient, and costefficient infrastructure solutions across public cloud, private cloud, and onpremises environments. The engineer will drive technology research, evaluation, design, automation, and delivery across the full infrastructure lifecycle while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and a mentor to engineering teams.

- Security: Palo Alto or similar nextgen firewalls, ForeScout

Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

- Strong scripting and automation background.
- Advanced understanding of disaster recovery, high availability, and cloud security.
- Professional certifications preferred (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Cisco, Palo Alto, VMware, etc.).
