Summary: The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role focuses on providing technical support for Snowflake administration and cloud infrastructure provisioning within a leading UK insurance organization. This position aims to enhance platform reliability, automate processes, and address technical debt while allowing the core team to concentrate on project delivery. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Terraform and Snowflake, working in a multi-cloud environment. This is a practical, delivery-oriented role suited for someone who enjoys building and improving infrastructure effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write Terraform code daily to provision and standardise environments.
- Translate High-Level Designs (HLDs) into Low-Level Designs (LLDs) and deployable infrastructure.
- Provision and administer Snowflake infrastructure, including warehouses, compute databases, schemas, roles, and RBAC models.
- Integrate changes into existing CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve automation and reduce manual work.
- Address technical debt and stabilise production environments.
- Work across Azure and AWS estates.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with Terraform and provisioning full environments.
- Experience hosting/administering Snowflake from an infrastructure/platform perspective.
- Understanding of RBAC, IAM, and secure enterprise design.
- Experience in regulated/production environments.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.
- Enjoyment in fixing foundations and improving reliability.

We’re supporting a leading UK insurance organisation during a critical phase of platform stabilisation and technical debt reduction, and are looking for a hands-on Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen the team. This role has been created to provide dedicated technical support across Snowflake administration and cloud infrastructure provisioning , allowing the core team to stay focused on project delivery while you tackle platform reliability, automation, and technical debt. This is a practical, delivery-focused engineering position for someone who enjoys building and improving infrastructure properly.
Purpose
The team has identified:
- Accumulated technical debt across cloud and Snowflake environments
- Operational risk if platforms aren’t hardened and automated
- Limited bandwidth to step away from projects to fix core issues
- A need for Snowflake infrastructure expertise + Terraform automation
Function
- Writing Terraform code daily to provision and standardise environments
- Translating HLDs into LLDs and deployable infrastructure
- Provisioning and administering Snowflake infrastructure , including: warehouses/compute databases/schemas roles & RBAC models secure networking/private endpoints
- Integrating changes into existing CI/CD pipelines
- Improving automation and reducing manual work
- Addressing technical debt and stabilising production environments
- Working across Azure and AWS estates
