Summary: Seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support a client in Washington, DC, with a focus on designing and implementing cloud platforms and scalable infrastructure. The role is remote but requires the candidate to be local to the Washington DC/Northern VA/MD area. This position is an open-ended contract that may convert to permanent employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and operation of cloud platforms and scalable infrastructure.
- Work as part of an Agile Scrum team, supporting development within AI GPT technology.
- Design and deploy secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Implement and manage network gateways, P2P VPN connections, and cross-cloud networking solutions.
- Build CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and enforce security compliance.
- Design and maintain document ingestion, chunking, embedding, and vector database pipelines for AI knowledge retrieval systems.
- Develop and maintain Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.
- Support distributed AI workloads, model serving, and agentic architectures.
- Implement FedRAMP, NIST frameworks, and PHI/PII protection measures.
- Deploy comprehensive logging, monitoring, and incident response systems.
Key Skills:
- U.S. Citizenship required - must pass federal background investigation for a Public Trust.
- Active Public Trust Clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Master's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience.
- 5+ years' experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with 3+ years in multi-cloud environments.
- Experience with multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Knowledge of network gateways, VPN technologies, and cross-cloud connectivity.
- Advanced proficiency in building, optimizing, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with document processing, embedding generation, and vector databases.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
