Summary: The role involves a hands-on DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer tasked with building and implementing Google Cloud Platform landing zones and reusable infrastructure templates. The focus is on executing established architecture patterns to support a manufacturing business domain, ensuring compliance with data-residency requirements. This position is not advisory but requires active participation in the build process. The engagement is a short-term contract lasting 3-4 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and configure Google Cloud Platform landing zones across multiple regions (Germany, Japan, and the EU), with data-residency requirements as a first-class constraint.
  • Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) modules and templates that internal teams can spin up and self-serve in their own environments.
  • Implement the Google Cloud Platform-native infrastructure that replaces the retiring data-integration tooling.
  • Apply established architecture standards and patterns consistently across regions.
  • Configure Google Cloud Platform networking, IAM, and security guardrails to enable least-privilege, self-service provisioning.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure delivery.
  • Document templates and standards for downstream implementation teams.

Key Skills:

  • Strong, current, hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience - this is a build role.
  • Production-grade Terraform (or equivalent IaC), including reusable module/template design for self-service consumption.
  • Solid Google Cloud Platform networking and IAM (custom roles, service accounts, least-privilege design).
  • Multi-region deployment experience with an understanding of data-residency / data-sovereignty controls.
  • CI/CD for infrastructure.
  • Ability to work independently against an established pattern and deliver within a short, focused engagement.

Detailed Description From Employer:

A global enterprise is retiring a legacy data-integration tool (SnapLogic) and rebuilding that capability natively on Google Cloud Platform. We're looking for a hands-on DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help stand up new regional landing zones and build the reusable, standards-based infrastructure templates that internal teams will self-serve to onboard new workloads.

The architecture pattern is already established - your focus is building and implementing it to standard, not inventing it. The first implementation supports a manufacturing business domain, and the pattern you help build becomes the standard for future onboarding.

This is a build role for someone who is currently in the weeds, not an advisory or architecture-only seat.

What You'll Do

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Strong, current, hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience - this is a build role.
  • Production-grade Terraform (or equivalent IaC), including reusable module/template design for self-service consumption.
  • Solid Google Cloud Platform networking and IAM (custom roles, service accounts, least-privilege design).
  • Multi-region deployment experience with an understanding of data-residency / data-sovereignty controls.
  • CI/CD for infrastructure.
  • Ability to work independently against an established pattern and deliver within a short, focused engagement.

Nice-to-Have

  • Google Cloud Platform data-integration / pipeline services (Dataflow, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Pub/Sub, Data Fusion).
  • Familiarity with SnapLogic or similar iPaaS/ETL tooling (helpful for understanding what's being replaced).
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or other compliance-sensitive domains.
  • Exposure to EU and/or Japan data-protection requirements.
