Summary: The Cloud Engineer (Google Cloud Platform) role focuses on configuring and deploying cloud environments, collaborating with security teams, and managing user access within the cloud platform. The position requires analyzing new cloud capabilities and creating monitoring solutions to enhance cloud management. The engineer will also advocate for cloud adoption and ensure compliance with security policies. This role operates within the MST timezone and involves handling multiple projects concurrently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and deploy VPC environments and cloud instances, as designed by the Cloud Architect, to meet the needs across all hosted workloads
- Evaluate and collaborate with SecOps team to establish security controls necessary to meet policy and standards from the CISO, ideally in a templated and automated manner
- Analyze and recommend new cloud platform capabilities for consideration for adoption
- Manage users/orgs/groups/access within the cloud platform, based on requirements defined by the Identity Access Management team
- Create monitoring and reporting capabilities to meet the management needs of the cloud platform
- Follow standards and procedures (SOPs) for consumption of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS (via IaC)
- Communicate/advocate capabilities of the cloud platform to drive adoption
- Work with SecOps resources to ensure network security policy is established in a consistent, repeatable and automated manner
- Escalate if/when roadblocks or delays arise that cannot be addressed via 1:1 interaction
- Work MST Timezone
- In performing this duty, provide examples of typical problems or challenges encountered by this position, and the guidance used to resolve the problem
- Monitoring system availability across a multi-vendor technology stack, to be able to maximize availability and rapidly diagnose/resolve issues when they arise
- Establishing the capabilities to minimize costs (instance scheduling, scale-up/down, self-provisioning, etc.) to compel application owners to run their apps in the cloud
- Handling multiple project needs concurrently without affecting project deadlines
