Summary: We are seeking an IBM DB2 Warehouse Edition Administrator with expertise in AWS environments to manage and optimize our data warehouse infrastructure. This role involves supporting data warehouse migration efforts while ensuring performance, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will possess advanced DB2 administration knowledge combined with AWS data service proficiency for ongoing performance tuning and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage migrations of IBM DB2 Warehouse Edition databases from current vendor AWS to the State Managed AWS ECS, ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and compliance with security standards.
- Administer and optimize IBM DB2 Warehouse Edition for performance, scalability, and high availability in a containerized ECS environment.
- Monitor and analyze database performance metrics (CPU, I/O, memory, workload distribution, query response) and implement tuning strategies for ongoing optimization.
- Develop automation scripts for health checks, backup/recovery, scaling, and failover management.
- Collaborate with existing project team to, deploy, scale and secure DB2 clusters and supporting AWS infrastructure.
- Implement and manage backup, recovery for the DB2 environments.
- Support ETL optimization and data warehouse performance improvements, working closely with data engineering teams.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including migration plans, validation procedures, and system architecture diagrams.
- Provide ongoing DBA support including patching, upgrades, performance diagnostics, and incident resolution.
Key Skills:
- 8+ years of experience administering IBM DB2 databases, with at least 3+ years supporting DB2 Warehouse Edition in cloud or containerized environments.
- Proven experience migrating DB2 data warehouses to AWS and performing cross-account migrations.
- Experience in Medicaid, Medicare, or Healthcare data warehouse environments.
- Strong proficiency in DB2 utilities, backup/restore operations, and query tuning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS ECS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, and optionally RDS for DB2.
- Familiarity with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or comparable tools for ETL and replication.
- Expertise in Linux shell scripting, automation, and operational monitoring.
- Knowledge of database security, auditing, and access control best practices.
