The Role
You will help refine the target cloud architecture and ensure the proposed platform aligns with wider enterprise architecture, security, governance, operational and non-functional requirements.
Working alongside other architects and senior stakeholders, you will also support the solution through internal architecture review, assurance and approval processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Refine and document the target architecture for an AWS-hosted data platform.
- Define integration and ingestion patterns across databases, files and APIs.
- Design Amazon S3 lakehouse storage using Bronze, Silver and Gold data zones.
- Establish transformation and orchestration patterns across Databricks and supporting AWS services.
- Define secure consumption patterns for reporting, analytics, applications and APIs.
- Embed appropriate governance, security, observability, resilience and operational controls.
Essential
- Strong experience designing enterprise-scale solutions as an AWS Cloud Architect.
- Good knowledge of modern data platforms and Databricks architecture.
- Experience designing cloud integration, ingestion and data-processing patterns.
- Understanding of data lake and lakehouse architecture, including medallion patterns.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, data governance and non-functional requirements.
- Experience aligning solution designs with wider enterprise architecture standards.
- Ability to produce clear architecture documentation and navigate formal design-assurance processes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical and business teams.
Desirable
- Experience designing unified or enterprise-wide data platforms.
- Knowledge of Databricks governance capabilities, including Unity Catalog.
- Broader security architecture experience.
- Experience delivering consultancy-led or statement-of-work engagements.
