Summary: The Chief Architect - Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is responsible for directing the technical vision and implementation of digital engineering solutions within the Digital Engineering Chief Engineering Team. This role requires deep expertise in aerospace systems engineering and a proven track record in leading cross-functional teams in complex defense environments. The Chief Architect will establish and govern the digital engineering architecture, ensuring alignment with system objectives and driving integration across the product life cycle. Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential to define and deliver effective digital architecture solutions supporting the 1LMX transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and oversight of Enterprise Architecture Product Team
- Define, develop, and maintain the end to end digital engineering architecture, ensuring traceability to program requirements and performance goals.
- Establish and enforce architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices (e.g., MBSE, SysML) for digital engineering across all subsystems.
- Lead architecture review boards (ARBs) and technical interchange meetings, providing authoritative decisions on digital engineering trade offs and solutions.
- Collaborate with system, hardware, software, and mission teams to embed model based design, simulation, and autonomous analysis capabilities early in the development process.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of systems engineering or digital engineering experience on large scale aerospace or defense programs, with at least 5 years in a lead/architect role.
- Strong knowledge of MBSE, digital twins, model based development, and related analysis methods (e.g., simulation, verification, validation).
- Advanced knowledge of Systems Architecture techniques, including understanding all related standards that address enterprise-level architectures.
- Skilled in SysML, Dassault/Cameo, IBM JAZZ/Rhapsody.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams, conduct technical reviews, and influence senior stakeholders.
- EVM/CAM experience.
- Agile SAFe experience.
- Risk Management experience.
- Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
