As we scale our production pipeline, we’re seeking a visionary Casting Director to secure the diverse, world-class talent that will bring these stories to life.

About the Role

The Global Casting Director will spearhead all casting activities—from early breakdowns and talent scouting to final deal negotiations—for multiple simultaneous projects. You’ll collaborate closely with showrunners, producers, and directors to ensure each role is authentically and brilliantly cast, while nurturing new talent across Africa, Latin America, and the diaspora.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Casting & Talent Scouting
• Break down scripts, craft detailed character briefs, and design casting strategies aligned with each project’s creative goals.
• Scout emerging and established actors globally, with a focus on under-represented regions and languages.
• Curate and manage self-tape requests, live readings, and chemistry tests (virtual and in-person).
• Auditions & Callbacks
• Organize, schedule, and run casting sessions across multiple time zones.
• Provide clear, actionable direction to actors to elicit performances that reflect the director’s vision.
• Present concise talent shortlists to creative leadership, including performance notes and availability.
• Negotiation & Contracting
• Lead initial negotiations on fees, options, and exclusivity, working with legal and production to finalize agreements.
• Ensure SAG-AFTRA / ACTRA / Equity and local union compliance, as well as immigration and work-permit requirements for international shoots.
• Talent Relations & Database Management
• Build and maintain CBWS’s proprietary global talent database, tracking availability, language skills, accents, and visa status.
• Foster long-term relationships with agents, managers, acting coaches, and regional casting partners.
• Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
• Champion inclusive casting practices, actively pursuing performers from historically marginalized communities.
• Advise leadership on representation trends and set measurable DEI casting targets.
• Workflow & Collaboration
• Coordinate closely with Production, Legal, and Finance to keep casting on schedule and on budget.
• Deliver timely reports, casting grids, and deal memos to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years professional casting experience for film, TV, or high-end streaming—ideally with international co-productions.
• Proven track record sourcing talent across multiple continents, languages, and union jurisdictions.
• Deep knowledge of contract structures, union rules, and child-labor regulations.
• Strong network of agents, managers, acting schools, and regional casting directors in Africa, UK and Latin America (or demonstrable ability to build one quickly).
• Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational skills; able to juggle dozens of roles simultaneously under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with casting software (Breakdown Express/Actors Access, Casting Networks, or similar) and collaborative tools (Zoom, Airtable, Google Workspace).
• Passion for championing authentic, culturally nuanced performances.

Nice-to-Have

• Fluency (or working proficiency) in French, Spanish, Portuguese, or major African languages.
• Experience casting voice-over or motion-capture projects.
• Familiarity with virtual production and volumetric capture workflows.
